Pursuing a life of singing has been my goal since listening to my first mixed cassette of opera arias. My current home-base is Milwaukee, WI, but I was raised on a dairy farm in north-central Wisconsin.
I love working on new projects and sharing my passion for singing with my students and my community. I believe it is important to forge new connections through creative music collaborations.
Sarah Richardson, soprano, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from UW-Madison, where she worked with baritone, Paul Rowe and appeared in recitals, opera scenes and full opera productions, including the roles of Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) and Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte). She also had the pleasure of performing in faculty concert productions including the annual Schubertiade and a tribute concert to Pierre Boulez.
Sarah received her Master of Music degree from UW-Milwaukee and Bachelor of Music degree from Viterbo University. At UW-Milwaukee, Sarah was a teaching assistant for the voice department and performed the roles of Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld) and Laetitia (The Old Maid and the Thief). Sarah has performed with the retired Milwaukee Choral Artists and Ensemble Musical Offering. An interested in early music performance led Sarah to attend the Lute Society of America’s summer seminar, where she studied and sang with leaders in early music performance, including Ellen Hargis and Grant Herreid. Sarah’s awards include second place in Schubert Club Competition of St. Paul, Minnesota, and first place in the graduate division of the Wisconsin NATS Auditions. She was the 2013 winner of Bel Canto Chorus’s Regional Artists Competition, giving her the opportunity to perform as the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana. In 2015, Sarah performed the role of Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar in Germany, where she furthered her performance and German language studies.
Sarah currently resides in Milwaukee and is an avid performer of chamber and concert work, having been featured with Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Opera on Tap, and the East Side Chamber Players. Sarah is an instructor of voice at Alverno College and JS Cable Music Studio.
